About unified communications and voip at Server Hub
Unified communications hardware for South African offices: Yealink SIP and Teams desk phones, DECT handsets and base stations for people who move around a site, conference phones and speakerphones for meeting rooms, wired and wireless headsets, and video bars and Teams Rooms kits from Yealink, Neat and Logitech that turn a room into a conferencing space.
Choosing comes down to three questions. Which platform — a Teams-native handset signs in with your Microsoft 365 account, while a SIP phone registers to a hosted VoIP service or on-premise PBX and works with any provider. How it is powered — most desk phones and video bars run on Power over Ethernet, so size the switch's PoE budget with the handsets; our networking range carries the PoE switches to match. And how big the room is — a speakerphone covers a huddle space, a video bar with an auto-framing camera suits a medium room, and a Teams Rooms kit with a compute module and touch console is the answer for a boardroom.
Everything is priced in rand with VAT included and warranted locally, and ships nationwide. Personal headsets, webcams and the rest of the desk sit in our peripherals range. For a rollout — a new office, a move to Teams Phone, or replacing an ageing PBX handset estate — send us the headcount and room list and we will quote the phones, headsets, rooms and switching together.

Frequently asked questions
Do Yealink phones work with Microsoft Teams?
- Yes, with the right edition. Yealink's Teams-certified phones run Microsoft's native Teams phone software and sign in with a Microsoft 365 account that includes Teams Phone. Yealink's SIP-firmware phones do not run Teams natively; some models can connect through Microsoft's SIP Gateway instead. Each product page states which edition the handset is.
What is the difference between a SIP phone and a Teams phone?
- A SIP phone registers to any standards-based PBX or hosted VoIP service and is configured per extension. A Teams phone runs Microsoft's native Teams software, signs in with a Microsoft 365 account and needs a Teams Phone licence. Many handsets are sold in both editions; the firmware, not the hardware, decides which one you have.
How many IP phones can a PoE switch power?
- Divide the switch's PoE power budget by each phone's draw. A basic IP desk phone draws roughly 3–6 W (IEEE 802.3af class 1–2); colour-screen and video phones draw more, up to 12–13 W. A 24-port switch with a 190 W budget runs 24 basic phones comfortably, but fewer video phones. Check each phone's PoE class on its datasheet.
