Read the PC4-2400T-L marking as generation, speed grade and module type in one code. Larger modules leave slots free for later upgrades, while smaller ones spread across more channels. Balanced population, the same number of modules on every channel, gives the most bandwidth. Upgrading in matched sets keeps memory interleaving efficient and avoids unbalanced channel configurations. Keep to one module type per server: registered and load-reduced DIMMs do not mix. The 2400MHz figure is a ceiling: the processor and the number of modules per channel decide the speed it actually runs at. LRDIMMs buffer the data lines, so a server can hold more memory in total than with registered modules. ECC corrects single-bit memory errors on the fly, which is why servers use it for long-running workloads.
