The Intel Xeon Silver 4108 has 8 cores and 16 threads, a 1.80GHz base clock with boost to 3.00GHz, 11MB of cache and a 85W TDP. Part of the 1st Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors line, it uses Socket 3647 and addresses up to 768GB of memory at 2400MHz DDR4.
Silver and Bronze tiers are economical choices for general-purpose and storage servers. In a two-socket server both processors must be the same model; check the server's supported processor list, BIOS level and heatsink rating for a 85W part before fitting. In most dual-socket servers the second processor also brings its own memory channels and expansion lanes into play. Its S-spec, SR3GJ, pins down the exact stepping.
