This Intel Xeon Platinum 8253 runs 16 cores at 2.20GHz (up to 3.00GHz on boost), with 22MB of cache in a 125W power envelope. It belongs to the 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors family and fits FCLGA3647, with support for up to 1TB of memory at 2933MHz DDR4.
Dual-socket servers need two of the same model; the server's processor support list and BIOS level decide whether this one is accepted. Platinum-tier chips target the heaviest consolidation, database and HPC work. The S-spec code SRF93 identifies the exact processor stepping. In most dual-socket servers the second processor also brings its own memory channels and expansion lanes into play.
