This Intel Xeon Gold 6242R runs 20 cores at 3.10GHz (up to 4.10GHz on boost), with 35.75MB of cache in a 205W power envelope. Part of the 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors line, it uses Socket 3647 and addresses up to 1TB of memory at 2933MHz DDR4.
Per-core software licensing makes core count a cost decision as well as a performance one. Apply fresh thermal paste each time the processor is seated.
