This Intel Xeon Gold 6130 runs 16 cores at 2.10GHz (up to 3.70GHz on boost), with 22MB of cache in a 125W power envelope. Part of the 1st Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors line, it uses Socket 3647 and addresses up to 768GB of memory at 2666MHz DDR4.
Dual-socket servers need two of the same model; the server's processor support list and BIOS level decide whether this one is accepted. With simultaneous multithreading enabled, it presents 32 threads to the operating system. Boost clocks apply when thermal and power headroom allow; the base clock is the sustained figure. Clean off old thermal compound and apply fresh paste when fitting it. A 125W processor needs a heatsink rated for its power, and higher-TDP parts may need the server’s high-performance heatsink. Per-core software licensing makes core count a cost decision as well as a performance one. Adding a second processor also opens up the memory channels and PCIe lanes attached to that socket.
