With 24 cores (48 threads) at a 2.20GHz base clock, boosting to 4.00GHz, the Intel Xeon Gold 5220R carries 35.75MB of cache and is rated at 150W. Part of the 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors line, it uses Socket 3647 and addresses up to 1TB of memory at 2933MHz DDR4.
Per-core software licensing makes core count a cost decision as well as a performance one. With simultaneous multithreading enabled, it presents 48 threads to the operating system.
