The Intel Xeon Gold 5122 has 4 cores and 8 threads, a 3.60GHz base clock with boost to 3.70GHz, 16.5MB of cache and a 105W TDP. Part of the 1st Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors line, it uses Socket 3647 and addresses up to 768GB of memory at 2666MHz DDR4.
Per-core software licensing makes core count a cost decision as well as a performance one. With simultaneous multithreading enabled, it presents 8 threads to the operating system. Boost clocks apply when thermal and power headroom allow; the base clock is the sustained figure. Clean off old thermal compound and apply fresh paste when fitting it.
