This Intel Xeon E7-8855 v4 runs 14 cores at 2.10GHz (up to 2.80GHz on boost), with 35MB of cache in a 140W power envelope. Part of the Intel server line, it uses LGA2011 and addresses up to 3TB of memory at 1866MHz DDR4.
Per-core software licensing makes core count a cost decision as well as a performance one. With simultaneous multithreading enabled, it presents 28 threads to the operating system.
