Intel Xeon E5-4667 v3 16-Core 2.00GHz Server Processor

This Intel Xeon E5-4667 v3 runs 16 cores at 2.00GHz (up to 2.90GHz on boost), with 40MB of cache in a 135W power envelope. Part of the Intel server line, it uses LGA2011 3 and addresses up to 768GB of memory.

It suits general-purpose server duty on its platform. Pair it with an identical processor in dual-socket systems, and confirm the heatsink and BIOS support a 135W chip before installing. Adding a second processor also opens up the memory channels and PCIe lanes attached to that socket. Its S-spec, SR22N, pins down the exact stepping. Apply fresh thermal paste each time the processor is seated. A 135W processor needs a heatsink rated for its power, and higher-TDP parts may need the server’s high-performance heatsink. With simultaneous multithreading enabled, it presents 32 threads to the operating system. Boost clocks apply when thermal and power headroom allow; the base clock is the sustained figure. Per-core software licensing makes core count a cost decision as well as a performance one.
