With 4 cores (4 threads) at a 3.40GHz base clock, boosting to 4.60GHz, the Intel Xeon E-2224 carries 8MB of cache and is rated at 71W. Part of the Intel server line, it uses FCLGA1151 and addresses up to 128GB of memory at 2666MHz DDR4.

With simultaneous multithreading enabled, it presents 4 threads to the operating system. Boost clocks apply when thermal and power headroom allow; the base clock is the sustained figure. Fresh thermal paste should be applied whenever a processor is fitted or refitted. A 71W processor needs a heatsink rated for its power, and higher-TDP parts may need the server’s high-performance heatsink. A second socket populated means a second set of memory channels and expansion lanes becomes usable. Its S-spec, SRFAV, pins down the exact stepping.
