Configured with 24 2.4TB 10K SAS hard drives, this Dell PowerVault ME4024 is a 2U storage array for shared block storage. Raw capacity is 57.6TB with all bays of the 24-bay 2.5-inch chassis populated.
The enclosure is fitted with two SAS controllers with 8GB of cache each and dual 584W power supplies. You also get rack rails.
Dual SAS controllers let the PowerVault ME4024 serve block storage to more than one host, which suits clustered hypervisors and shared database storage. Planned as RAID 6, the 24 drives leave 22 drives' worth of usable space with double parity. With a redundant pair of supplies, each can sit on its own power circuit. With two controllers and multipath configured on the hosts, the array can ride through the loss of one controller.
Flash builds of the ME4024 respond faster; this one is the capacity choice. It carries more raw storage than the smaller ME4024 configurations.
This certified refurbished array has been inspected and bench-tested in Johannesburg, with any stored data wiped.
