This Dell PowerVault ME4012 is a 2U storage array populated with six 8TB 7.2K SAS hard drives. Raw capacity is 48TB; six bays of the 12-bay 3.5-inch chassis are still free.
Behind the drives sit two SAS controllers with 8GB of cache each and dual 584W power supplies. The configuration also lists a rack rail kit.
With dual SAS controllers, the PowerVault ME4012 presents shared block storage to several hosts; typical uses are a small virtualisation cluster or consolidated file and database storage. RAID 6 across all six drives would keep four drives' worth of space and tolerate two drive failures. With a redundant pair of supplies, each can sit on its own power circuit. A dual-controller layout is designed so the array stays reachable if one controller fails, provided the hosts are set up with multipath.
Raw capacity is twice that of a smaller ME4012 build.
