24 300GB 15K SAS hard drives populate this Dell PowerVault MD1420 2U storage array. Raw capacity is 7.2TB with all bays of the 24-bay 2.5-inch chassis populated.
The enclosure is fitted with two SAS enclosure management modules and dual 600W power supplies. Also included: rack rails.
Use it to grow an existing server's storage: the two enclosure management modules connect the 24-bay 2.5-inch shelf to an external SAS port on the host. How much of the raw space is usable depends on the RAID level set across the 24 drives. Two power supplies let the machine run from separate power feeds.
Flash builds of the MD1420 respond faster; this one is the capacity choice. It holds twice the raw capacity of a smaller MD1420 configuration.
Condition is certified refurbished, and each array is inspected, bench-tested and wiped in Johannesburg.
