Dell PowerVault MD1400 2U Storage Array — 9× 10TB 7.2K SAS, 12-Bay LFF, Dual SAS EMMs

This Dell PowerVault MD1400 is a 2U storage array populated with nine 10TB 7.2K SAS hard drives. That comes to 90TB of raw capacity; three bays of the 12-bay 3.5-inch chassis are still free.

The enclosure is fitted with two SAS enclosure management modules (4-port 12Gbps SAS each) and dual 600W power supplies. Also included: rack rails.

Use it to grow an existing server's storage: the two enclosure management modules connect the 12-bay 3.5-inch shelf to an external SAS port on the host. How much of the raw space is usable depends on the RAID level set across the nine drives. Two power supplies let the machine run from separate power feeds. The open bays leave room to add drives later in the same chassis. The second enclosure management module allows a redundant cable path to the host.

It holds half as much again as the raw capacity of a smaller MD1400 configuration.

Condition is certified refurbished, and each array is inspected, bench-tested and wiped in Johannesburg.
