Configured with twelve 4TB 7.2K SAS hard drives, this Dell PowerVault MD1400 is a 2U storage array for direct-attached expansion storage. That comes to 48TB of raw capacity with all bays of the 12-bay 3.5-inch chassis populated.
The enclosure is fitted with two SAS enclosure management modules (4-port 12Gbps SAS each) and dual 600W power supplies. You also get rack rails.
Use it to grow an existing server's storage: the two enclosure management modules connect the 12-bay 3.5-inch shelf to an external SAS port on the host. How much of the raw space is usable depends on the RAID level set across the twelve drives. Two power supplies let the machine run from separate power feeds.
It carries more raw storage than the smaller MD1400 configurations.
This certified refurbished array has been inspected and bench-tested in Johannesburg, with any stored data wiped.
