Two 16-core Intel Xeon Silver 4216 CPUs at 2.10GHz and 128GB of DDR4 RAM power this Dell PowerEdge T440 tower server. It carries eight 12TB 7.2K SAS hard drives for 96TB of raw capacity with all bays of the 8-bay 3.5-inch chassis populated. Two 240GB M.2 SATA SSDs on a BOSS card handle the operating system, separate from the data drives.
A PERC H730P RAID controller with 2GB of cache, dual-port 1GbE RJ45 networking (Broadcom 5720) and dual 750W power supplies complete the specification. You also get iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management.
The capacity-first layout suits backup targets, media libraries and large file shares, where raw terabytes matter more than random I/O. Planned as RAID 6, the eight drives leave six drives' worth of usable space with double parity.
Memory here is twice that of a lighter T440 configuration, leaving more headroom for memory-bound work. Core count is a step up on the lighter T440 configurations.
