Configured as a tower server, this Dell PowerEdge T340 combines a 6-core Intel Xeon E-2236 running at 3.40GHz with 32GB of DDR4 RAM. Storage comes as two 8TB 2K SAS hard drives, 16TB raw; six bays of the 8-bay 3.5-inch chassis are still free.
The build is rounded out by a PERC H330 RAID controller, dual-port 1GbE RJ45 networking (Broadcom 5720) and dual 495W power supplies. Also included: an iDRAC9 Basic licence for out-of-band management and a rack rail kit.
With 16TB of raw capacity, it makes a natural backup repository, archive tier or departmental file server, and 6 cores and 32GB are ample for the storage services that run on it. The two drives pair naturally as a RAID 1 mirror.
