A pair of Intel Xeon Silver 4510 chips (2.40GHz, 12 cores each) and 128GB of DDR5 power this Dell PowerEdge R760xs 2U rack server. The drive complement is six 8TB 7.2K SATA hard drives, 48TB before RAID in six bays of the 12-bay 3.5-inch chassis, so six remain open for expansion. Two 480GB M.2 NVMe SSDs on a BOSS card handle the operating system, separate from the data drives.
A PERC H755 RAID controller with 8GB of cache, 2 × 10GbE SFP+ networking (Broadcom 57412) and dual 1400W power supplies complete the specification. The configuration also lists iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management and rack rails.
The capacity-first layout suits backup targets, media libraries and large file shares, where raw terabytes matter more than random I/O. Planned as RAID 6, the six drives leave four drives' worth of usable space with double parity.
