This Dell PowerEdge R760xa is a 2U rack server built around two 16-core Intel Xeon Gold 6526Y CPUs at 2.80GHz and 256GB of DDR5 RAM. It carries eight 3.84TB SAS SSDs for 30.72TB of raw capacity with all bays of the 8-bay 2.5-inch chassis populated.
Around that sit a PERC H965I RAID controller with 8GB of cache, dual-port 10GbE RJ45 networking (Broadcom 57416) and dual 2800W power supplies. You also get iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management and rack rails.
Flash throughout means quick random reads and writes, which is what SQL servers, VDI hosts and busy application servers lean on. Set up as RAID 10, the eight drives keep half their raw space and stay mirrored. Dual power supplies mean one can fail, or one feed can drop, without taking the machine down.
Memory here is twice that of a lighter R760xa configuration, leaving more headroom for memory-bound work. The Gold processors are a tier up from the entry R760xa builds.
