Here the Dell PowerEdge R7525 2U rack server comes with two AMD EPYC 7763 processors (64 cores each, 2.45GHz base clock) alongside 256GB of DDR4 memory. It carries six 22TB 7.2K SAS hard drives for 132TB of raw capacity in six bays of the 12-bay 3.5-inch chassis, so six remain open for expansion. The operating system gets its own home on a BOSS card carrying two 480GB M.2 SATA SSDs.
Supporting hardware includes PERC H755 hardware RAID (8GB cache), dual-port 10GbE RJ45 networking (Broadcom 57416) and dual 1400W power supplies. The configuration also lists an iDRAC9 Enterprise licence for out-of-band management and a rack rail kit.
Roles that fit well include backup and replication targets, video and media archives, and file servers holding years of data. Planned as RAID 6, the six drives leave four drives' worth of usable space with double parity.
