Configured as a 2U rack server, this Dell PowerEdge R750xs combines two 20-core Intel Xeon Silver 4316 CPUs at 2.30GHz with 64GB of DDR4 RAM. It carries two 960GB SATA SSDs for 1.92TB of raw capacity; 22 bays of the 24-bay 2.5-inch chassis are still free.
The build is rounded out by PERC H755 hardware RAID (8GB cache), dual-port 1GbE RJ45 networking (Broadcom 5720) and dual 800W power supplies. The configuration also lists an iDRAC9 Enterprise licence for out-of-band management and a rack rail kit.
40 cores and 64GB suit a general-purpose virtualisation host running a handful of VMs, or dedicated application and database roles. The two drives pair naturally as a RAID 1 mirror.
