Configured as a 2U rack server, this Dell PowerEdge R740xd combines two 28-core Intel Xeon Platinum 8280 CPUs at 2.70GHz with 512GB of DDR4 RAM. Storage comes as 24 3.84TB SAS SSDs, 92.16TB raw, filling every bay of the 24-bay 2.5-inch chassis.
The build is rounded out by PERC H740P hardware RAID (8GB cache), 2 × 1GbE RJ45 + 2 × 10GbE RJ45 networking (Intel X550) and dual 1100W power supplies. The configuration also lists an iDRAC9 Enterprise licence for out-of-band management and a rack rail kit.
56 cores and 512GB with all-flash storage make it a strong match for SQL databases, busy virtual machines and other latency-sensitive work. RAID 10 across the 24 drives would keep twelve drives' worth of space while mirroring every write.
