Two 24-core Intel Xeon Gold 5418Y CPUs at 2.00GHz and 256GB of DDR5 RAM power this Dell PowerEdge R660 1U rack server. The drive complement is ten 2.4TB 10K SAS hard drives, 24TB before RAID with all bays of the 10-bay 2.5-inch chassis populated.
A PERC H755 RAID controller with 8GB of cache, dual-port 10GbE RJ45 networking (Broadcom 57416) and dual 1400W power supplies complete the specification. Also included: iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management and rack rails.
The capacity-first layout suits backup targets, media libraries and large file shares, where raw terabytes matter more than random I/O. With ten drives, RAID 6 keeps eight drives' worth of capacity and survives two simultaneous drive failures.
