NVMe drives connect over PCIe for low latency, which suits databases, caching tiers and busy virtual machines. As a read intensive drive it is rated for read-heavy workloads. Check that the server has NVMe-wired bays, or an adapter card, before fitting. In an existing array, keep new disks at the same capacity, speed and interface as their neighbours. Fit it in the caddy that suits your server generation; caddies differ between generations. It is meant for PowerEdge servers and PowerVault arrays with 2.5-inch NVMe bays. A spare of the same model cuts the time an array spends degraded when a drive fails. Dell-labelled drives carry Dell firmware, which is what PowerEdge RAID controllers expect to see.
It is supplied certified refurbished: inspected, bench-tested and data-wiped in Johannesburg before release.
