A 480GB SATA SSD in the 2.5-inch form factor on a 6Gbps SATA interface, made by Hynix.

Dell-labelled drives carry Dell firmware, which is what PowerEdge RAID controllers expect to see. It is meant for PowerEdge servers and PowerVault arrays with 2.5-inch SATA bays. Hot-plug bays take the drive in a tray or caddy matched to the server generation. In a hot-plug bay with a redundant RAID level, a failed disk can usually be swapped while the server keeps running. Once a replacement is fitted, the RAID controller rebuilds the array onto it, and larger drives take longer to rebuild. A spare of the same model cuts the time an array spends degraded when a drive fails. Flash drives like this suit boot volumes, virtual machine datastores and database logs, where access time matters more than raw capacity. As a mixed use drive it is rated for a balance of reads and writes.

It is supplied certified refurbished: inspected, bench-tested and data-wiped in Johannesburg before release.
