All three are current-generation, 2-socket, DDR5 / PCIe 5.0 servers — but they solve different problems. The choice comes down to height (expansion), and Intel vs AMD.

How to choose

  • SR630 V3 (1U Intel) — when rack space and density matter more than internal expansion: web/app tiers, VDI, HCI nodes, virtualisation hosts deployed in quantity. You trade drive and slot capacity for a half-height chassis.
  • SR650 V3 (2U Intel) — the default all-rounder. The extra U buys up to 40× 2.5" bays, more PCIe slots and full-height/double-width GPUs. Choose it when one box must do storage, compute and acceleration.
  • SR665 V3 (2U AMD) — the same 2U flexibility but on AMD EPYC, where core count (up to 160/socket), memory bandwidth and DDR5-6400 pull ahead. Best for dense virtualisation consolidation, HPC and analytics where per-socket throughput is the metric.

The SR630 V3 and SR650 V3 are the same Intel platform in different heights; the SR665 V3 is the AMD sibling of the SR650 V3. Sockets and memory topology differ, so size the CPU and DIMM plan to the model, not across them.
