Corsair is one of our deepest component ranges, and it is weighted where it should be: DDR5 memory, NVMe SSDs, power supplies and cooling, with keyboards, mice and headsets alongside.
Memory is the line most buyers get wrong, and it is worth being blunt about. A kit rated at a high speed does not run at that speed by default — it runs at the JEDEC standard until you enable the XMP or EXPO profile in the BIOS, and a great many machines in South African offices are quietly running expensive memory at base speed because nobody ever did. Buy kits as kits, too: two matched modules from one package are validated together in a way that two individually-bought sticks are not.
Storage is simpler but has its own trap. Gen 5 NVMe drives are genuinely fast and genuinely hot, and they want a heatsink and some airflow. In a cramped case without either, a Gen 5 drive will throttle to below the Gen 4 drive you could have bought for less. If your case is tight, buy Gen 4 and spend the difference on capacity.
Power supplies are where we would encourage spending slightly more than feels necessary. The PSU is the component that takes the rest of the machine with it when it fails, and headroom above your calculated draw costs far less than the failure does — particularly on the South African grid, where machines see more power events than the specification sheets assume.

Corsair — frequently asked questions
Why is my memory not running at its advertised speed?
- Because the rated speed is an XMP or EXPO profile, not the default. Until you enable that profile in the BIOS the kit runs at the JEDEC base speed. This is the single most common reason a memory upgrade feels like it did nothing.
Can I buy two single modules instead of a kit?
- You can, but a kit is safer. Modules sold as a matched kit are validated together; two separately bought sticks — even the same part number — are not, and mismatched memory is a common cause of instability that is painful to diagnose.
Is a Gen 5 SSD worth it over Gen 4?
- Only if your case can cool it. Gen 5 drives are fast and hot, and they need a heatsink and airflow. In a cramped build a throttled Gen 5 drive performs below a Gen 4 drive that costs less — buy Gen 4 and put the difference into capacity.
How much power supply headroom should I leave?
- More than the calculator says. The PSU is the part that can take the rest of the machine with it, and on the South African grid components see more power events than the specification assumes. Headroom is cheap insurance.
What warranty applies?
- New Corsair hardware carries 12 months mirrored locally, and longer where Corsair’s own cover is longer — memory in particular often carries a much longer manufacturer warranty. Claims are handled here.
Will this memory work in my machine?
- Send us the motherboard or system model and we will confirm the generation, speed and capacity it supports before you order. DDR4 and DDR5 are not interchangeable and the board decides.
